📊 Scoring Criteria

Scoring Range: 0.00 to 5.00 points

For the “Best Project of the Year” competition, scores will range between 3 to 5 points.

Judges will assign scores ranging from 1.00 to 5.00 points based on the following criteria:

  • Integration of Challenge Theme:
    Your story should connect well with the theme. Originality, and smooth integration of the theme will be appreciated.
    Failure to include the contest theme will lead to disqualification or a final score of 1 point.
  • Animation and Graphics:
    Animated sprites and backgrounds are appreciated.
    Don’t use pictures or sounds without proper licensing to avoid penalties.
  • Script / Code:
    Simplicity in code, well-commented scripts will be valued more.
    Originality in scripts and use of advanced coding techniques such as user-defined blocks, variables etc. will gain more points.
  • Functionality:
    Project’s functionality such menus, controls, and sprites will be assessed.
  • General Impression:
    Overall impact and creativity of the project will be considered. A novel idea, clear structure, and engaging content contribute to a positive impression.

🚫 Disqualification and Penalties

  • Modification of Project After Deadline: Changing the project after the submission deadline.
  • Fraudulent Project: Project made by an adult or someone older than allowed.
  • A copied or heavily influenced project from someone else’s work.
  • Using widely known codes from other Scratch projects.
  • Previous Competition Participation: The project participated in previous International Scratch Olympiad competitions.
  • Invalid or Unshared Project: Sharing an invalid project link or keeping the project unshared.
  • False Information or Misconduct: Declaring a false age or identity.
  • Falsely representing a location to influence scoring.
  • Including inappropriate or illegal content.
  • Behavioral Misconduct: Inappropriate or disrespectful behavior from the competitor or their associates.
  • Failing to present the project properly on the required platform (like ZOOM).
  • Non-Adherence to Competition Guidelines: The project lacks the contest theme or challenge.
  • Submitting the wrong type of project for a specific competition.
  • Not using the specified language (ENGLISH).
  • Multiple Competitors Using the Same Scratch Account

What You Can’t Do

  • No Copying or Reusing: Don’t copy or use old projects.
  • Avoid Complexity: Keep games simple and avoid overly complicated ones.
  • Individual Entries Only: Team submissions are not allowed.
  • Stay Appropriate: No inappropriate, political, or violent content is permitted.

What Gets You High Scores

  • Be Original: Emphasize creativity and unique ideas.
  • Detailed Coding: Clear and detailed coding earns more points.
  • Follow the Theme: Align your project with the contest theme for better scoring.

📋 Requirements & Guidelines

Use Scratch Language Only: Projects must be made in Scratch.

Meet Deadlines: Submit on time and use materials legally.

🤝 Behavior Expectations

Zoom Presentations: Maintain proper behavior during Zoom presentations if required.
